Tonya has over seven years of medical and social sciences research experience, backed by twenty years of clinical nutrition/food service systems management experience in large healthcare and community based settings. She is currently working on a five year End of Life education research initiative for African American caregivers of loved ones with memory loss which is funded by the National Institutes of Health, under the mentorship of Dr. Gloria Bonner at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her research interests include health disparities, health policy advocacy, patient education and activation interventions for underserved communities through community based participatory research methods.
